Portrait of a group of senior men and senior women. Horizontally framed shot.
According to the CDC Division for Heart Disease and Stroke Prevention, heart disease and stroke cost the United States about $200 billion and $34 billion each year, respectively. This includes health care costs, medications, and missed days of work/lost productivity. This goes to show that heart disease and stroke treatment and recovery costs are really quite costly. Wondering if Medicare covers heart diseases and strokes? Senior Care Benefit is here to help you better understand your Medicare coverage!

Medicare Coverage

  • Heart Disease. When ordered by your provider, Medicare Part B can be used to cover blood tests for heart disease once every five years. Medicare Advantage Plans can also be used to cover heart disease screenings when you see an in-network provider and meet Medicare’s eligibility requirements.
  • Stroke. If you are recovering from a stroke and are suffering from major side effects (i.e. hearing and vision problems, paralysis, walking difficulties, etc.) Medicare covers rehabilitation services that can help you regain your normal functions. Medicare covers medical and rehabilitation services while you are in a hospital or skilled nursing facility. It also covers medically-necessary outpatient occupational and physical therapy.
